Sunday, May 16, 2021: Susan and Debbie met up to do some shopping and spotted this squirrel in the front yard tree before leaving.
They headed to the Yakima Fruit Market in Bothell, ...
... which was filled with a huge variety of produce and other goodies. Debbie came out with some fresh bread, bell peppers, white peaches, raspberries, and delicious Hawaiian fruit drinks.
Susan came out with a box of flowers for her garden.
Doug had some more goodies to give us before heading out to the patio to enjoy the weather.
A gorgeous blue Steller's jay spent some time in the back yard, tempted by peanuts from Susan.
This little guy turned out to be a baby dark-eyed junco.
He was joined by his mother at the bird feeder, who would take a bite of birdseed and then feed it to him.
A black-capped chickadee came by for a visit too.
We headed to Ivar's in Bothell for lunch. Again, the Bundlings Weather Luck brought bright blue skies and sunshine to the Seattle area. We gorged ourselves on Ivar's fried food, then got a bowl of clam chowder to take with us.
After lunch, Doug and Susan headed out in their car and we hopped in The Ocho and drove to ...
... Renton to visit our friend, Marley.
We had a great visit with her on her deck in the shade.
She served a plate of delicious chocolate chip cookies and banana bread, along with lemonade.
She has lived in this home since the early 1970s and both Debbie and Doug have visited her many times here in the past. She shared some of the history of the shrubs and trees that she's added to her beautiful yard over the years.
We talked about her late husband, Gary, and her friendship with Irene, Debbie and Doug's mother. We reminisced about all the times we've spent with her over the decades. Two hours flew by as we caught up as much as possible.
We headed out at 4:00 PM, because we needed to go to ...
... Burien, which wasn't far away.
We picked up several catering trays of Mexican food and drove to Karl and Stacia's house, ...
... but first, we drove past one of only three Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes in the state of Washington.
It's less than a mile from Karl and Stacia's house, where there was a perfect RV-sized parking spot waiting for us.
While Tom brought in the food and helped get it set up in the kitchen, Debbie and her Aunt Ruth headed to the lower level where she has a full suite to herself. Ruth had already gathered a packet of documents to give to Debbie, and found a few more vintage photos and documents to add.
There were birth and death certificates, naturalization papers, cemetery and house deeds, ...
... and vintage photos of Debbie's grandmother as a child.
On one wall was a framed photograph of Debbie's grandparents on their wedding day.
In a back room, there was a familiar painting on the floor waiting to be hung up. This used to hang in Debbie's dad's condo in Arizona until we cleared it all out the previous year and gave this painting to Ruth.
Back upstairs, we admired some of the great fireplaces and decor in Karl and Stacia's living room ...
... and family room.
Debbie and Susan hung out with the boys upstairs for a bit and got to see their playroom and bedroom.
Dinner is served!
We had a great time catching up and listening to Ruth answer questions from Debbie about her parents and grandparents.
We celebrated Doug's birthday with cake and everyone got to choose their favorite flavor.
Next, it was time for group photos, first indoors, ...
... then outdoors with the boys.
As it got close to 7:00 PM, we gave everyone a tour of The Ocho, ...
...and of course, we had to get out the ladder for the boys to explore the poptop.
Debbie and Doug posed for a picture with their aunt, and then we were off.
Mount Rainier was still looking beautiful as the sun was starting to drop in the sky.
We were heading to Olympia next, hoping to make it while there was still some light left.
We got to the capitol building in time to get a picture of it still lit by the sun.
Twenty minutes later, we were pulling into Millersvania State Park, ...

... where we had a great campsite by ourselves along the back of the campground. Frogs in the trees serenaded us to sleep.
