Day 21 - Home |
Saturday, September 2, 2023: We were up at 5:00 AM and out of the Great Western Inn fifteen minutes later.
The nearest McDonald's was two exits to the west, but we needed fried golden goodness and McDonald's Diet Cokes to start the long drive home so we didn't mind backtracking a bit.
At 6:00 AM, it was still dark, with Venus shining brightly in the east.
An hour later, the horizon was starting to glow, ...
... and the sun was fully up when we drove past Kansas City.
By the time we reached the outskirts of St. Louis three and a half hours later, we were starving. We were still trying to only eat regional fast food, so we stopped at Lion's Choice for lunch.
Tom ordered the Italian Beef, and Debbie ordered an Original Roast Beef sandwich, both of which were amazingly delicious. It's a good thing that this chain hasn't come to Indianapolis yet, or we'd never eat anything else.
We saw this silver Thor Sequence RV when we stopped at a rest area just after crossing into Indiana. We loved The Ocho, and we miss it, but we really, really love road trips in the van with our tent. We arrived home around 3:30 PM, ending a wonderful trip that included planes, trains, and automobiles.
