Thursday, November 16, 2023: Today was the official start of the second half of the cruise. We had a nice leisurely breakfast of muesli and congee, and then went down to the World Stage to see a presentation on the history of South Africa. |
It was delivered by our new friend Kate, who had been our tourmate on two occasions. She gave a great presentation, covering the founding of Cape Colony in the early 1400s through the election of Nelson Mandela in 1994. |
Immediately after the presentation ended, we headed to the Lido Market to get lunch. The line for today's special theme lunch of BBQ favorites was way too long, ... |
... so we had salads instead. They were cleaning our room when we returned, so we went directly to the balcony. |
LEGO Debbie and Tom were enjoying the ice cream social that was at the Lido Pool today, ... |
... so we thought we should enjoy it as well. The crew had lots of flavors and every conceivable topping available for made-to-order sundaes, ... |
... and the pool deck was decorated with festive napkins for the occasion. The line, however, stretched across the deck and was heading up the opposite side of the pool, so we decided to skip the custom-made sundaes, ... |
... and get ice cream cones from the Lido Market instead like we haven't gotten in the habit of doing daily anyway. Here's the slightly terrifying sign that was scattered around for the ice cream social. |
Back in our room, Josmen brought by a load of both regular Diet Coke and Caffeine Free Coke Zero for our mini-fridge. Huzzah! |
We went to the dining room for dinner, where Debbie ordered the seafood cocktail appetizer, ... |
... and Tom got French onion soup. |
Debbie ordered the calamari fritti starter as her main course, and the waiter brought her a double portion. How thoughtful! |
Tom ordered the vegetarian tacos for his main. |
We were heading southeast from Zanzibar, so the sunset was once again visible from our cabin. It was raining out there to the west, but here in Seafaring Bundlings Utopia, it was a beautiful night. |
There was just a sliver of the moon visible throught the hazy clouds, ... |
... but Debbie's camera was able get a great shot of not only the crescent moon but also a myriad of stars. Day 39 > |
