On October 21, 2006, Claire participated in the Motor Activities Training Program (MATP) events at the Fall Classic held at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
Here are Claire and Debbie waiting for the events to start. |
Hamilton County coordinator Heather was there with adorable daughters Turner and Quincy. Baby Stone was due in just a few more months. |
Terri announced the opening of the event. |
Student volunteers handed out t-shirts to the participants. |
The Hancock County athletes have their own colorful shirts. |
Here's Claire at the darts station. |
This is the football station. This toy football player kicked a football when his head was pressed, so even athletes with limited use of their arms were able to activate it. |
Student volunteers helped out at the hoops station. |
Claire was too distracted to care much about the hoops station. |
Tom helped Claire with the mini-basketball station ... |
... and with the bowling station. |
Hamilton County athlete David took his turn at the soccer station. The volunteer (and her baby) held the ball in place for David to kick it. |
Here's an athlete at the cornhole station. |
David tried his hand at the football station. |
One of the group activities was wheelchair balloon volleyball. Hancock County athlete Danielle took a shot, ... |
... and so did David. |
Claire's former classmate Helen got her chance with the balloon. |
More playing, ... |
... and more. |
Claire had her chance as well. |
Terri explained the rules of wheelchair basketball to the first group. |
After launching the ball, the aides and athletes rushed toward the other end of the court. Erin's smile is always contagious. |
Claire got to take a shot on goal with the ball launcher. |
Erin took a shot, too. |
Danielle sure enjoyed her day! |
As individuals finished the course, participation medals were distributed. |
Athletes from all counties were mixed together as they finished. |
Claire waited her turn nicely. |
Each athlete was applauded as they received their medal. |
Claire was ready to go home after a very nice morning. |
