Claire Wiegand's Story: 2003 - 2004

This was Claire's third year at Fishers Junior High. We were always happy when Claire returned to the familiar. As always, she attended summer school for four weeks at Tri-County Opportunity School, too.

Claire reached her final height of 5' 2" (157 cm). Her mother is 5' 9" (175 cm) and her younger sister ended up being 5' 5" (165 cm), so Claire being shorter than expected supports the theory that she has Rett Syndrome. Most women with Rett Syndrome are shorter than average.

	We took the girls to the Indiana State Fair in August. Claire did well in her wheelchair, and enjoyed the classic fair foods. We also spent some time in the Midway, and took Claire on the Ferris wheel. She was pretty unimpressed. (August 2003)
	Claire participated as an athlete in MATP for Special Olympics, her beloved school aide, Brooke, while Tom, Debbie, and Jill all participated as newly-certified Special Olympics volunteers. (May 2004) Next: 2004 - 2005
